Our Achievements

What we have achieved so far?

Since 2014

We are a team of change-makers advocating for and promoting the demand, access, and utilization of health services, fostering entrepreneurship, enhancing access to justice, and creating forums for dialogue among women who engage in commercial work.

2017

GLOBAL FUND UNDER MARPS NETWORK

WOPEIN won the 2017 Global Fund under the MARPS Network with the aim of enhancing condom promotion among women who engage in commercial work in Kawempe Division.

WOPEIN partnered with Empowered At Dusk Women’s Association to ensure that these women know their rights through awareness sessions on the Patients’ Charter and their rights as patients when accessing health services.

Additionally, peer training was conducted to strengthen service delivery within the community of women who engage in commercial work.

2018

UHAI-EASHRI

WOPEIN won the 2018 UHI-EASHRI Grant to strengthen organizational capacity and provide prevention and control services among women who engage in commercial work.

In 2018, we successfully secured office space, procured office furniture and supplies, conducted a dialogue meeting for women who engage in commercial work, and provided capacity-building for WOPEIN staff in computer skills.

2019 to date

CDC GRANT THROUGH ID

Key Population Investment Fund (KPIF)
WOPEIN is implementing a KPIF project funded by the Centers for Disease Control through the Infectious Disease Institute, aimed at scaling the uptake of quality and effective HIV services, sensitizing key populations on self-testing kits, and addressing stigma, discrimination, and violence.

Under this project, WOPEIN has reached 774 clients, including women who engage in commercial work and adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), with HIV prevention services such as PrEP, and 41 clients are currently in care.

The organization has distributed condoms and condom-compatible lubricants, conducted dialogues with women who engage in commercial work and health workers to address stigma and discrimination, and ensured access to friendly and inclusive health services.
